TeamworX Targets Tech Advancement and Zero Emissions Construction

Amid the Indonesian government transition, TeamworX, a leading construction consultant in Indonesia, is supporting the government's 2030 emission reduction goals through sustainable construction as well as advancing its technology.


According to TeamworX Director Marangkup Manik, the company specialises in engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) to develop sustainable buildings. Marangkup believes that sustainable construction will benefit both the environment and the building’s owner. With a strong focus on industrial projects, TeamworX primarily serves clients in the food and beverage (F&B) and medical sectors.


"We consistently implement green approaches in our design while ensuring our clients achieve significant energy cost savings," says Marangkup.


The company ensures sustainability throughout the entire construction process, from design to completion. “Sustainable means the building will also be durable and long-lasting,” he says.


While their buildings may require a higher initial investment, they deliver substantial long-term savings through reduced energy consumption and operational costs.


“As it [the building] requires less energy, it will also reduce the operational cost. So, with a higher investment, [our client] will get a lower building cost,” explains Marangkup.


Marangkup sees TeamworX's commitment to design and monitor sustainable construction with global environmental goals. “We have the Paris Agreement, so it is our commitment, both industries and government, to prevent the rise in global temperatures, and these are the efforts we support,” he says.


One of their current projects is Aspen Medical Hospital in Depok, West Java. Emerald Hospital Design, in which TeamworX is a partner, included in their design and construction a green approach, aiming to be the first hospital to receive a platinum rank from the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) in 2026.


The most challenging part of building a sustainable building is its design stage. In that stage, TeamworX will calculate how much energy they will need to construct the building and how much energy the client will need to operate it.


“For example, can the building use low-E glass, double glass, solar panel, or sun shading so that the electricity requirement for the AC becomes lower?” Marangkup explains things his team usually considers when working on a sustainable construction project.


Recognizing the importance of the design stage, TeamworX invested significantly in their team and technology to enhance it. Most of TeamworX’s engineers are certified to construct green and sustainable buildings. They also utilise the latest technology to design and monitor construction projects effectively.


TeamworX uses technology to create a design, including a 3D model with Glodon. It enhances communication and workflow through Building Information Management (BIM), which centralizes all collaborative work—covering architectural, mechanical, structural, HVAC, civil, electrical, and electronic disciplines—into a single model.


Marangkup also says TeamworX’s engineers are always open to learning more about any new technology that supports their work, including exploring virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Marangkup believes it is important to digitalise its internal team to improve its external output.


“This means that we can never be separated from technology, especially in this industry,” Marangkup emphasizes.
