After a year of rapid transformation and global trade policy turbulence in 2025, the industrial construction sector is expected to grow stronger in 2026. The growth will be driven by the continued development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), manufacturing sector expansion, and rising foreign direct investment.
"There will be more construction of warehouses and factories in the food and beverage (F&B) and pharmaceutical sectors. We also see increasing development in SEZs across Indonesia," says Sari Novieta, Marketing Manager at TeamworX Indonesia.
The Engine of Growth
SEZs remain the cornerstone of Indonesia's industrial construction strategy.
With over 20 designated SEZs, both within and outside Java Island, these zones continue to attract industrial investment. They offer not only infrastructure, but also streamlined logistics networks and attractive fiscal incentives for both domestic manufacturers and multinational corporations seeking operational efficiency and market access.
Besides SEZs, the F&B and pharmaceutical sectors are also projected as the fastest-growing segments in Indonesia's industrial landscape throughout 2026.
These sectors demand rigorous compliance with international hygiene standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety regulations. As such, these construction projects usually require expertise in designing the building and its elements, such as cleanrooms and temperature-controlled warehouses.
"Throughout the year, the F&B and pharmaceutical sectors have been our primary clients. Recently, many companies from those sectors are investing to make their current facilities more sustainable. For instance, many of them have started to install solar panels," Sari notes.
Among other projects, TeamworX Indonesia designed a manufacturing facility for a non-dairy producer and a warehouse facility for a prominent fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company in 2025. The company also delivered Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) services for the construction project of PT Erlangga Edi Laboratories (Erela)’s pharmaceutical facilities last year.
How to Stay Relevant
The anticipated growth in Indonesia's industrial construction sector signals not just increased project volume, but also greater complexity in design and execution requirements. As a result, clients are increasingly seeking professional design and construction consultants who can deliver comprehensive value engineering, proactive risk management, and stringent quality assurance rather than simply accepting the lowest construction bid.
TeamworX Indonesia ensures its services are structured to help clients optimize their construction budgets effectively. One key approach is implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3D visualization tools as part of its standard design procedures. This enables the design and engineering team to identify, predict, and even prevent potential clashes and coordination issues before breaking ground, saving both time and costs during construction.
The adoption of technological advancement extends beyond project design and management, as it also plays a crucial role in capturing a larger market share through digital marketing.
TeamworX Indonesia is among the first design and construction consultants in Indonesia to implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies, including search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM).
"We lean toward digital marketing to introduce our brand and services to wider audiences, especially as we observe that many of our competitors still rely on traditional marketing methods. At the same time, we encourage our engineers to stay current with industry trends and showcase that expertise through our digital presence," Sari concludes.
